That’s what Ron’s Kindergarden Teacher wrote on his report card in 1960.
Here’s what Ron has to say about his work now:
"I draw on historical examples of the great landscape tradition to inform and direct my own work. By exemplifying these traditions, I create a solid foundation from which the exploration of the contemporary landscape can be made. A successful piece to me captures both my excitement about a location while discovering something beautiful, uncommon, powerful, joyous, grounded, or dramatic in the result.
It seems only natural to an artist to experiment with materials in the studio. To approach art making with a sense of freedom feeds my creative process. To balance this with awareness and a vision of the final image is the main challenge.
Outside of my central body of work with the landscapes I also lean toward abstraction or enjoy drawing the human figure. Lately I've been creating sculpture from found objects and printing monotypes with a handpress. One project always leads to another. As long as I remain open to the process my range of work keeps expanding."
